Menthol is an organic compoundobtained from peppermint or other mint oils. It is a waxy, crystallinesubstance, clear or white in color, which is solid at room temperature andmelts slightly above. The main form ofmenthol occurring in nature is ( - )-menthol, which is assigned the (1R,2S,5R) configuration.It is widely used torelieve minor throat irritation. Menthol also acts as aweak kappa Opioidreceptor agonist.

 

Common Uses:

Using in spas place some crystals in a bowl in a steam room, orplace a few crystals in an oil warmer with a small amount of oil. You canalso melt the crystals in warmed mineral oil to use as a bath oil. Or allow theoil to cool and apply as a balm for sore muscles. Many People using mentholcrystals to soothe sore muscles, help to diffuse tension headaches or relaxtight neck muscles. You can also melt the crystals in warmed mineral oil to useas a bath oil. Or allow the oil to cooland apply as a balm for sore muscles.You can add the crystals to an empty saucepan, then pour boiling water over thecrystals. This will create a menthol infused vapor that you can inhale forrespiratory relief. Drape a towel aroundyour head to direct the vapors moredirectly.

Avoid if pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not use on babies orsmall children. Do not use it around pets, as it can be toxic in higher doses.It May cause irritation to sensitive skin, however, it is rare. Please do apatch test, first, before applying in large amounts. Do not Direct use inbaths. Should not be used in conjunction with homeopathic remedies, as it mayact as an antidote.
