The obverse depicts Jody Clark’s portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in right-profile relief with the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head. A sixth-generation design that includes her neckline and shoulders. The design was created for the Royal Mint of England in 2015.

The reverse features a majestic and powerful adult fearless tiger standing on a peak with its open jaws displaying razor sharp canine teeth. The design includes the inscription ‘Tiger 2022’, the Chinese character for ‘tiger’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark. The magnificent animal is considered the ruler of the beasts on Earth as opposed to the dragon which rules the beasts in the sky and heavens. Tigers are powerful animals they symbolize heroism and longevity and are believed in ancient China to be able to eat evil spirits, or at least cause them to flee, and can in general protect people from misfortune.
