Produced by The Royal Mint from England, these iconic 1 oz Silver Britannia coins are the official bullion silver coins of The United Kingdom. Introduced by Great Britain in response to other government issued silver bullion coins like the Canadian Maple Leaf and the American Silver Eagle.

First issued in 1997 it contains .999 pure Silver; the coin has a legal tender status in The United Kingdom.

The 2022 Britannia, symbol of Britain, leads the way to redefine security in the bullion market introducing four groundbreaking features: a micro-text that borders the design stating: “Decus et Tutamen” which means “An ornament and a safeguard”, in the lower left-hand of the design, below Britannia’s flowing gown, is a trident to represent her naval history. As the viewer changes their perspective this trident becomes a padlock, and finally, surface animation behind Britannia reflects the movement of waves and fine details such as the Union flag on Britannia’s shield have been highlighted by tincture lines.
The obverse (front side) features Jody Clarke’s right facing profile of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II wearing the Royal Diadem crown along with the 2 pounds denomination, and the inscriptions: DG REG FD (acronym definition: by the grace of god Queen and defender of the Faith).

The reverse displays Philip Nathan’s interpretation image of Britannia common on the gold and platinum coins in the series. Nathans’s design was chosen by the Royal Mint following an art contest in 1987 and offers a modern interpretation of the historic Britannia figure, inspired by the Celtic Queen Boadicea. Reappearing for the first time on this series after being replaced in 2008 on the 50 pence with a modern design with royal emblems.

An essential addition to your bullion collection.
